A meditation on life through the lens and practice of archery.
Chris Monaco spent more than two decades in the high-pressure rooms where global brands, entertainment, music, culture, and influence converge. From corner offices to red carpets, he helped the world’s biggest names tell their stories, until a midlife reckoning forced him to step back and examine his own.
In the aftermath, Chris had to confront the version of himself he had built just to survive his own success. But he quickly discovered that losing an identity can actually be a gift. Through that awakening, he found a path forward rooted in sobriety, a beginner’s mind, and a process for living a life that finally felt like his own.
That transition eventually led him to the archery range. There, archery became the most honest relationship he had ever encountered. The results of his efforts were given to him after every shot. There was no sugarcoating the results, no negotiating the outcome, and no emotional manipulation. Just the straight facts: the arrow lands where it lands, and he had everything and nothing to do with it all at the same time.
Through that daily practice, he developed a personal code and a process for navigating his path.
ARCHERY: The Art of Letting Go is a meditation on life through the lens and practice of archery. This is neither a sports manual nor a self-help prescription pad. It is a book about the lessons found in getting lessons—exploring the value of mentors, the illusion of control, and the discipline of presence.
Written from lived experience in real time, rather than theory, Monaco shares thoughtful, often humorous observations for anyone standing on the brink of a major transition, right in the middle of one, or simply contemplating a change.
As Chris discovered, the next chapter of his life wasn’t found by pushing harder. It was found by learning the counterintuitive power of letting go.
